The Virtual Classroom is in Session!

Getting ready for the virtual classrooms was a huge lift that was necessary to continue programming and working alongside our students and supporting our teachers in a new learning environment. Initially, like many others, “we did not know how it would work and what the experience would be like, but our community had faith that we would figure out how to build connections virtually.”

“We certainly had to reshape how to do things and used the opportunity in the spring to test our ideas. It turns out our design thinking program, which involved a limited number of students and volunteers, was well suited to test the virtual experience. We were able to take what we learned and apply it to all of our programmings for 2020-2021.”

The next huge lift came in creating 4,000 take-home STEM kits for our 4th & 5th grade classes that will be utilized by our students, teachers and volunteers. We had nine (9) of our business partners with their employee volunteers assemble various components and their materials to build the kits that would go to each student. A lot of volunteers worked together in each community to make this possible for the virtual classroom today.

THANK YOU!
